This traditional Jewish festival commemorates the story of the Exodus of the Israelites from Egypt. Passover begins on the 15th day of the month of Nisan, which usually is in March or April. In Israel, the holiday lasts seven days and is also called the Feast of the Unleavened Bread with the first and last days considered legal holidays.
Passover influenced the Christian feast of Maunday Thursday as the Last Supper is commonly thought to have been a Passover Seder, and, in Islam, Turkic Karaites observe Passover traditions in the evening following the last day of Tashriq.
